Household linen designed to last

At Valombreuse, each piece is designed to last. But high-end linens , no matter how durable, deserve special attention. Because well-maintained fabric retains its shine, softness, and structure, we've gathered our essential recommendations here.

Understanding the fibers, respecting the material

Our bed linen , bath linen and table linen are made from natural materials: long-fiber cotton, cotton percale , cotton sateen or linen. These noble fibers have their requirements, but they reveal their full potential when treated with care.

Before first use, a gentle wash softens the fiber and stabilizes the shape. It also revives the signature feel of our fabrics.

Washing: softness and precision

Ideal temperature

We recommend machine washing all Valombreuse linens at 40°C. This temperature ensures perfect hygiene while respecting the fiber and embroidery.

Some hand-embroidered table linen or natural linen items can be washed at 60°C if necessary, but always with a mild detergent and without bleaching agents.

Programs and detergents

Choose a classic or delicate cycle, with a moderate spin (800 rpm maximum). Avoid industrial detergents containing optical brighteners: they can alter the color of the cotton or damage the embroidery threads.

Preferably, use a neutral liquid detergent without artificial fragrances. For whites, a few drops of white vinegar can replace fabric softener.

Drying: preserve the natural fall

Air dry or tumble dry?

The ideal is natural drying, flat or on a hanger, away from direct sunlight. This preserves the brightness of the colors and prevents fiber breakage.

If you use a tumble dryer, use a “delicates” program and remove items that are still slightly damp to make ironing easier.

Ironing: enhancing embroidery

Thorough ironing helps reactivate the fibers and reveal the finishes. Iron your embroidered bed linen or high-end tablecloths inside out, at a medium temperature (iron on the cotton/linen setting). For embroidery, place a thin cloth between the iron and the piece to avoid flattening the stitching.

The softer nightwear can be simply steamed or left as is for a lively texture.

Put away your laundry carefully

Once ironed, your laundry deserves a dry, cool place, away from light. Avoid plastic bags or airtight containers: your laundry needs to breathe.

For hand-embroidered bed sets or luxury bath towels , we recommend folding them inside out to protect the embroidery, and slipping a sheet of tissue paper between the layers to preserve the texture.

A promise of longevity

Caring for your Valombreuse linens means continuing the artisanal process that brought them to life. It also means preserving their beauty, comfort, and the subtle bond they create with those who use them.

Well-treated linen doesn't wear out: it develops a patina. And it is in this subtle transformation that lies the essence of lasting luxury.
